Album Recording Studio Northeast
A residential studio for artists making full-length records — three Steinway pianos, a tuned live room, onsite lodging.
One Soul Studios is an album recording studio in the Northeast, set on six acres of woods in New Baltimore, NY. The facility is built for long-form projects — full albums, EPs, multi-track records, and any work that needs more than a single afternoon to come together.
The studio is 2.5 hours from New York City, 2.5 hours from Boston, and 30 minutes from Albany International Airport. Onsite lodging is included for multi-day sessions. Artists arrive, settle in, and work at the pace the record requires.
Built for Long-Form Recording
A full album rarely comes together in a single day. The arrangements get revised. The takes get re-recorded. The vocal that sounded great in the afternoon needs to be sung again the next morning. A studio designed only for day-rate sessions makes that workflow expensive and disjointed.
The residential model at One Soul Studios is structured for the opposite: a continuous space where the work and the rest happen on the same property. The session does not break at the end of the day. There is no driving back to the city, no hotel check-in, no morning commute to start over again.
For artists making a record, the schedule is dictated by the music — not by the studio’s exit time.
A Live Room Engineered for Acoustic Performance
The main tracking room measures 32 by 24 feet with a 22-foot ceiling at the apex. Acoustic treatment combines diffusion, absorption, and polarization, with a decay of approximately 0.8 seconds. A variable acoustic system tunes the room wetter or drier depending on the track.
Three large isolation booths connect to the main room. A band can track basics live with full visual contact, isolate vocals or bass, and overdub as needed across the same session.
Climate control runs year-round, keeping every instrument stable across the duration of an extended project.
Three Steinway Grand Pianos
The 2005 Hamburg Steinway D delivers concert-grade projection. The 1904 New York Steinway B carries the warm, harmonically dark sound associated with Bill Evans. The 1883 Centennial Steinway D is a rare period instrument suited to historically informed work.
Bobby Avey is the studio’s dedicated piano technician. The pianos are maintained year-round in climate-controlled conditions. For multi-day album projects involving piano on multiple tracks, an appointment to play and select the instrument in advance is recommended.

What Artists Say
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the minimum booking for an album project?
A four-hour block is the studio minimum. For album work, a two-day residency at minimum is recommended — longer projects are common and the schedule is built around the record.
Is lodging included for multi-day album sessions?
Yes. Three bedrooms and a private kitchen are available onsite. Lodging is included in multi-day recording packages.
Can I track basics live with the band and overdub later?
Yes. The main live room and three isolation booths are configured for both live ensemble tracking and isolated overdubs. The same session can move between configurations.
Can I use my own producer or engineer?
Yes. Visiting producers and engineers can work with their own laptops and DAWs while using the studio’s acoustics, microphones, signal chain, and instruments.
How far in advance should I book an album project?
For multi-day residencies, a few months in advance is recommended to secure preferred dates and to allow time for piano tuning and any specific equipment requests.
